If there are steep hills I may need to use a tractor with some other kind of tool, but I haven't tried that yet.Įdit: Other thoughts about this: It seems that the Strautmann trailer is not meant to haul logs, but crop, chaff, woodchips, etc. I was wondering if anyone else has been hauling small logs, and how they do it.īTW, I've been picking up (and hauling) the large logs with a Stepa crane/trailer, if the ground is level enough. All of a sudden there seems to be a force field and I can't put any more logs in. It can be frustrating, though, because it seems like the bounding boxes on the logs are kind of buggy, and there seems to be a strange limit on the number of logs I can put in the trailer, even though visually I think more logs should fit. I like this because the sides of the trailer are low enough that I can drop logs in, and high enough to keep the logs in. I've been loading the small logs onto a small Strautmann trailer, with sides, but only "one level" of sides (not the two or three you can upgrade to). However when dealing with the tops it might be easier to make them into chips, but you wont be making a lot of money on wood chips. Then I cut up the trees, and I end up with some large logs (too heavy to pick up by hand) and some small logs. I think wood chips in FS 19 are pretty low value, to the point that any tree that can be turned into a log is better off as such. I've been cutting down trees on my land with a chainsaw.
